Gardening Season is just about here!! Unfortunately my original garden didn't get its fall clean-up done because of all the travelling we did in 2010 Fall. Celebrating the completion of my PhD was a priority!!
We have a challenge ahead of us. The boards around the beds are rotten and have to be replaced.

While the weather didn't cooperate this long weekend we did manage to get a start. We've decided to put stone around the edge of the garden and stone retaining walls to create three terraces lengthwise in the garden. We now have all of the supplies that we need, did some of the prep work, and were able to being to lay the stones. Not a bad weekend's work - in between rain showers.
It's all in the planning |
The first corner is in. And lots of weeds are out. (Picture taken in the rain.....) |

After two years of neglect my garden looked pretty sad. I was really afraid that I would have to abandon it. This is how it looked early in the spring....
Many thanks to Evan and Terry, as part of my Mother's day gift, they pulled the thistles and other huge weeds and began to tackle the overgrown pathways. Several beds are now in much better shape - it now looks like the garden can be saved!
Mika spent the last couple of weeks with us and was fascinated by the work in the garden.
